Start Your Journey to a Pain-Free Life

Don't just do exercises; learn to live without pain. Physical therapy should never be just about "teaching you some stretches". PT is most effective when you work with us to learn how to move in a way that allows your body to heal. This strategy effectively fixes your condition for life! At FastBack Physical Therapy, we offer outpatient orthopedic physical therapy services to help treat the following:

  • Back Pain

Physical therapy is one of the most effective treatment options for individuals suffering from back pain. The goal of PT is to help alleviate your pain, improve mobility, and strengthen the core muscles that support the spine. Our staff uses a variety of techniques and exercises to help relieve back pain, including:

    1. Stretching: Gentle stretching exercises help to increase flexibility and relieve tension in the back muscles.
    2. Strengthening: Targeted exercises help to build strength in the muscles that support the spine, improving overall stability.
    3. Manual therapy: This can include hands-on techniques like massage and joint mobilization to help relieve pain and improve range of motion.
    4. Posture correction: Physical therapists can help individuals to identify and correct postural issues that may be contributing to back pain.
    5. Education on safe movement: Physical therapists can educate you on safe movements and activities that can help reduce knee pain and prevent future injury.
    6. Modalities: Electrical Stimulation and Ultrasound may help to relieve pain and improve muscle function.

Each of these treatments is important in reducing your pain, but the most essential component in your recovery is helping you return to an ACTIVE lifestyle. Our staff members are specially trained to identify the source of stress and strain to your back. We believe that a basic exercise program that doesn’t also address the stressors that are found throughout your day, is not good enough to completely heal your injured area. Our team will always create a program that is more than basic stretches: our program gets to the root of your pain!

Physical therapy can provide significant relief from back pain and can be an effective alternative to surgery or long-term use of medication. If you're experiencing back pain, we can help you develop a customized treatment plan to help you get back to your normal activities as soon as possible.

Here are some of the conditions we can help with:

    • Sacroiliac (SI Joint) pain: We offer highly effective treatment options for individuals suffering from SI joint pain. The sacroiliac joint is a key structural joint located in the lower back, and pain in this area can be caused by a number of factors, including injury, arthritis, or dysfunction.
    • Sciatica: PT can be an effective treatment option for individuals suffering from sciatica. Sciatica is a common condition characterized by pain in the lower back and legs that is caused by compression of the sciatic nerve.
    • Spinal surgery: PT is an important part of the recovery process for individuals who have undergone back surgery. After surgery, we can help to alleviate pain, improve mobility, strengthen the muscles that support the spine, and answer any questions you have about your post-surgical recovery. We can also help prepare you for surgery with prehab!

  • Neck Pain

Physical therapy can help alleviate neck pain by utilizing various techniques and exercises to improve strength, flexibility, and range of motion in the neck and surrounding muscles. Our PTs will assess the underlying cause of your neck pain and develop an individualized treatment plan, which may include manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, and of course exercises to improve posture and decrease pain and inflammation.

In addition, our staff can educate you on proper ergonomics and body mechanics to prevent further injury and promote long-term healing. By choosing our clinic, you can expect to regain function, reduce pain, and higher quality of life doing the activities you love.

Some treatments our team offers for neck pain in physical therapy include:

    1. Awareness training to relax tension in the neck during work or positions that cause tension.
    2. Manual therapy: Hands-on techniques, such as joint mobilization and soft tissue massage, to improve neck mobility and decrease pain.
    3. Exercise: Targeted exercises to improve strength, flexibility, and range of motion in the neck and surrounding muscles.
    4. Postural re-education: Education and training on proper posture to reduce stress and strain on the neck.
    5. Heat/cold therapy: The use of heat or cold to reduce pain and swelling.
    6. Electrotherapy: The use of electrical stimulation to reduce pain and improve muscle function.
    7. Traction: The use of a traction device to gently stretch the neck and relieve pressure on the spinal cord, which some insurances will purchase for you to also use at home.

You can be sure that the specific treatments offered will depend on the underlying cause of neck pain and your own individual needs and goals.

  • Shoulder Pain

Physical therapy is the preferred way to treat various shoulder conditions including rotator cuff injuries, shoulder impingements, shoulder bursitis, shoulder arthritis, labral tears, frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis), shoulder instability, shoulder dislocation, and tendinitis. PT is also critical to help with post-operative rehabilitation for shoulder surgeries. Our goal for shoulder conditions is to alleviate pain, improve range of motion, strengthen the shoulder and surrounding muscles, and help you return to your normal activities without avoiding use of your affected shoulder.

Some treatments our team offers for shoulder pain in physical therapy include:

    1. Manual therapy: Hands-on techniques, such as joint mobilization and soft tissue massage, to improve shoulder mobility and decrease pain.
    2. Exercise: Targeted exercises to improve strength, flexibility, and range of motion in the shoulder and stabilizing muscles (the scapular muscles and rotator cuff).
    3. Postural re-education: Education and training on proper posture to reduce stress and strain on the neck.
    4. Addressing biomechanical issues: Our PTs can address any biomechanical issues that may be contributing to your shoulder pain, such as muscle imbalances or improper alignment.
    5. Activity training: Training in a way that makes you more aware of how to properly use your entire arm and shoulder without straining your injured area.

  • Knee Pain

Physical therapy is a highly effective treatment to alleviate knee pain for active adults, which can help in several ways:

    1. Improving range of motion: Our team can help increase the range of motion in the knee joint through various exercises and stretches, reducing the pain and stiffness.
    2. Strengthening: Your PT will develop a program that can target specific muscles in the entire leg to help build strength and stability, which can help reduce the knee pain.
    3. Correcting posture and alignment: Improper posture or alignment can put excess pressure on the knee joint and lead to pain. Our team can help correct these issues to reduce knee pain.
    4. Decreasing inflammation: When necessary, we can use techniques such as ice therapy, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound to help reduce swelling and inflammation in the knee joint.
    5. Managing arthritis: If the knee pain is due to arthritis, PT can help improve joint mobility, reduce pain, and increase the overall function of the knee joint.
    6. Improving balance and coordination: Our staff are highly trained to help improve balance and coordination by targeting specific muscles, which can help reduce the risk of falls and further knee injury.
    7. Customized treatment plan: Your PT will assess your individual condition and create a customized treatment plan to address your specific needs and goals.
    8. Improving gait: Your PT can evaluate and improve your gait (walking pattern) to help reduce knee pain and improve overall mobility.
    9. Reintroduction to physical activity: Our PTs can re-introduce you to physical activities at the right pace, allowing you to keep active, while avoiding activities that may cause further harm.

Physical therapy is a crucial component in the management of knee pain for active adults. By working with our PTs, you can receive personalized care, learn safe movement techniques, and develop a plan for long-term pain management and improvement.

  • Headaches and TMJ

Physical therapy is an effective solution for individuals suffering from headaches and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain. Our experienced team uses a combination of manual therapy techniques, exercises, and education to address the root cause of your symptoms and help you manage your pain. Our therapy sessions are tailored to meet your individual needs and address the underlying factors that are causing your headaches or TMJ pain.

Our PTs will assess your range of motion, muscle tension, and posture to determine the best course of action. They will then design a personalized therapy plan that may include exercises aimed at reducing muscle tension and improving range of motion. Our physical therapists will also provide education on posture, body mechanics, and self-care techniques to help you maintain progress and manage your symptoms.

At our clinic, we are dedicated to providing individualized care that helps our patients live pain-free, active lives. If you are suffering from headaches or TMJ pain, we encourage you to book an appointment with one of our physical therapists today. We are here to help you find relief and achieve your goals.

    4. Carpal tunnel syndrome
    5. De Quervain's tenosynovitis

  • Hip Pain

Our experienced therapists specialize in treating hip pain and can create a personalized treatment plan to address your specific needs. From reducing inflammation and improving range of motion to strengthening the muscles that support your hips, physical therapy can help you get back to your daily activities with ease. Physical therapy can be an effective way to manage hip pain by targeting the underlying cause of the pain and addressing it through various techniques and exercises. Some of the ways PT can help with hip pain include:

    1. Pain reduction: We use techniques including manual therapy to help reduce pain and inflammation in the hip area while improving mobility.
    2. Improved range of motion: Through stretching and strengthening exercises, PT can help improve range of motion in the hip joint and surrounding muscles, reducing stiffness and discomfort.
    3. Strengthening: By targeting the muscles that support the hip joint, PT can help improve strength, stability, and overall function, reducing the risk of future hip pain and injury.
    4. Correcting biomechanical imbalances: Our staff can expertly assess and address any biomechanical imbalances that may be contributing to hip pain, such as a tight IT band or weak gluteals.
    5. Education and self-management: We always provide our patients with education and self-management strategies to help prevent hip pain from returning in the future.

Physical therapists are trained to help with a variety of hip pain conditions, some of which include:

    • Osteoarthritis: A degenerative joint condition that can cause pain, stiffness, and loss of mobility in the hip.
    • Bursitis: Inflammation of the bursae, small fluid-filled sacs that cushion the joints, can cause pain in the hip.
    • Tendinitis: Inflammation of the tendons in the hip can cause pain, especially during physical activity.
    • Hip labral tears: Tears in the cartilage that lines the hip joint can cause pain, instability, and limited range of motion.
    • Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI): A condition in which extra bone growth around the hip joint leads to pain and limited mobility.
    • Snapping hip syndrome: A snapping or popping sensation in the hip, often accompanied by pain.
    • Piriformis syndrome: Pain in the hip, buttock, and down the back of the leg caused by compression of the sciatic nerve by the piriformis muscle.
    • Lower back pain: Chronic lower back pain can sometimes radiate to the hips (and vice versa), and physical therapy can help address both the back pain and the hip pain.

Our PTs can perform a thorough evaluation to determine the specific cause of your hip pain and develop an individualized treatment plan to address it.

  • Ankle and Foot Pain

Physical therapy can help with various foot and ankle conditions, including:

    1. Plantar fasciitis - Inflammation of the plantar fascia, the connective tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot.
    2. Sprains and strains - Injuries to the ligaments or muscles of the foot and ankle that can occur from overuse, sudden twisting, or impact.
    3. Achilles tendinitis - Inflammation of the Achilles tendon, which connects the calf muscle to the heel bone.
    4. Flatfoot - A condition where the arch of the foot collapses and the entire sole of the foot comes into contact with the ground.
    5. Shin splints - Pain along the front part of the lower leg, often caused by overuse of the muscles and tendons in the shin.

PT can help with these conditions by reducing pain and swelling, improving range of motion, strengthening the muscles, improving balance, and helping to prevent future injuries. In addition to learning exercises that help the healing process, you will also be trained how to move in a way that reduces the strain that goes through your feet during the day.

  • Youth Sports & Rehab

We offer youth rehab programs that are covered by insurance that include one-on-one care geared for physical development of your child as well as improved activity performance.  Choosing FastBack PT will help accelerates return to sports or improve confidence doing challenging physical activity.

Kids and young adults tend to enjoy our rehab programs because we relate everything back to doing their favorite activities.  We will work with a high level youth athlete and get them back to peak performance, but we also love helping kids that have a hard time keeping up with peers because of the limitations they have.  In both cases our focus is to motivate kids to enjoy life actively!

One other important benefit is that we always address posture and coordination, and teach kids to better protect their body while doing activity.  This way they can improve performance now, with less risk for injury or arthritis later in life.

  • Prehab: A Smart Step Before Surgery

Are you preparing for surgery? Then consider taking the proactive step of prehab. Prehab is a form of physical and mental preparation that helps patients get ready for their upcoming surgery and recover faster. Here are a few reasons why prehab is a good idea before surgery:

Improves physical condition: Prehab helps to strengthen the muscles and joints that will be used during surgery, leading to a smoother and faster recovery.

Reduces anxiety and stress: The process of prehab can also help to reduce anxiety and stress related to surgery, making it a more positive and manageable experience.

Helps set realistic expectations: Prehab provides patients with a better understanding of what to expect during and after their surgery, reducing the risk of post-operative complications and improving overall outcomes.

Shortens recovery time: By preparing the body and mind for surgery, prehab can help patients recover faster and get back to their daily routines sooner.

Don't wait until after your surgery to start thinking about your recovery. Take control of your health and wellness by starting prehab today. Your body and mind will thank you!
